Dana K. Brewer
Senior Project Manager
Dana Brewer (nee King) is a Senior Project Manager with Georgia Tech’s Enterprise Innovation Institute (EI2). As a member of the Community Innovation Services team within EI2, she works with Georgia communities to develop and help guide the implementation of economic development initiatives. Her work includes identifying innovative approaches to sustainable economic development, conducting business opportunity analyses and impact assessments, and addressing workforce development needs.
Since 2003, Dana has been conducting economic and community development research and strategic planning for communities throughout the Southeastern United States. Dana’s work at Georgia Tech has included assisting Paulding County, Georgia leaders as they establish a new economic development organization. She also conducted a needs assessment and devised economic development recommendations as a core member of the Georgia Tech team helping Troup County, Georgia with a strategic planning initiative. Dana also led a team who examined the opportunities and challenges associated with the use of e-commerce by businesses in rural Georgia, and she was lead author for a report describing policy recommendations from community forums conducted by the National Women’s Business Council.
Previously, Dana served as a research contributor for the fourth edition of Planning Local Economic Development: Theory and Practice, authored by Drs. Ed Blakely and Nancey Green Leigh. She also worked for an Atlanta-based consulting firm, where she conducted in-depth analysis of target industries and business climate competitiveness, and crafted economic and workforce development strategies for communities across the Southeast. Her experience also includes rental housing development in the Atlanta area, legislative work for a congressional office, and research with CQ Weekly magazine. Dana holds a bachelor’s degree in public policy from Duke University and a master’s degree in city and regional planning from Georgia Tech.
