Organizational Development

In search of competitive excellence, economic developers often ask for guidance and assistance on key enterprise management and operational issues relating to running a quality economic development program.  They are interested in operating as effectively as possible, in yielding the highest possible impact, and in having a knowledge system in place for tracking their performance to enable continual improvement.

Through our Calibration ProgramTM, we advise local economic development organizations (EDO) on how best to achieve higher performance and excellence, drawing on quality management standards from the International Economic Development Council’s (IEDC) Accredited Economic Development Organization (AEDO) program, the International Standards Organization (ISO), and the Malcolm Baldrige awards.  These efforts are informed by a survey of AEDOs across the U.S., the “best of the best,” which is conducted every three years.

Through our EDO JumpStart ProgramSM, we assist community leaders with their efforts to design their new EDO and develop the framework for its future success.  This program may include facilitation of the economic development leadership team, arrangement of delegation visits with peer communities who support successful EDOs, timely research to inform decision-making with respect to structuring the EDO, and implementation assistance.
